Yurara no Yu's Nara branch is a large day-use bath facility south of central Nara. Its operator describes a natural-spring outdoor bath, indoor tubs, sauna choices and a restaurant. What makes the visit work for an overseas traveller is knowing the boundaries in advance: a standard bath ticket is for one entry on that day, towels cost extra unless brought, the women-only heated-stone area has separate eligibility and pricing, and the posted tattoo rule bars entry even for temporary tattoo designs. This is the Hachijō branch, not the separately addressed Oshikuma branch.
Choose the bath before the optional services
The Nara branch names Suzaku no Yu as its outdoor natural-spring bath, alongside indoor bathing and four sauna types. Its bath page also describes carbonated, jet and ceramic-pot tubs; availability can change for cleaning or repairs, so no one feature is guaranteed on the day. These are sections of one day-use facility, not separate destinations. Operator marketing makes medical-effect claims about some baths and saunas, but MyNara treats them as leisure facilities and makes no claim that bathing prevents or treats disease. Check with your clinician if you have a condition that changes whether hot bathing is appropriate.
Budget for the ticket and what it leaves out
The operator's current guide lists adult (junior-high age and above) admission at ¥850 on weekdays or ¥910 on weekends/public holidays. Children aged four through elementary school are ¥390 or ¥450; age three and under is free. It lists a bath towel plus face towel rental set at ¥200. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided, while other bathing supplies should be brought or bought. The entry fee covers one bath admission on the day, not repeated re-entry, a meal, massage or heated-stone treatment. A monthly discount day is advertised, but the operator warns its date may move: consult the current month calendar rather than relying on a standing special price.
Check the women-only heated-stone room separately
The facility's ganbanyoku area is restricted to female guests of junior-high age and above. It lists 10:00–22:00 with last reception at 21:15, a weekday fee of ¥670 except Thursdays, ¥770 on weekends/public holidays, and a Thursday promotion of ¥400. These are separate prices, not included in the basic bath ticket. Ask staff whether a bath ticket or any specific garment or reservation is additionally required; the public guide does not establish the complete bundled total for a first-time visitor. Do not present this option as available to men or young children.
Use the restaurant as an independent choice
On-site Yurara-tei says visitors may eat without bathing. Its operator page lists weekday restaurant service from 11:00 to 23:30 and weekend/holiday service from 08:00 to 23:30, with last orders at 23:00; the earlier weekend window has a breakfast menu. The site shows Japanese and international set meals, noodles, desserts and a children's selection, but its displayed menu and prices can change. Food is a service at this one complex, not included in admission and not a second spa count. Confirm ingredients and allergens with staff, particularly if a dietary restriction matters.
Read the entry policy before making the trip
The operator refuses entry to people with permanent or temporary tattoos, and to heavily intoxicated visitors. It does not allow mixed-sex bathing for a child aged seven or older or at least 130 cm tall. It says people wearing bathing garments for surgical scars and ostomates may use the baths under stated conditions, asking for advance contact and a possible check. These policies can decide whether the venue is suitable for your group; call 0742-30-1126 before travelling if unsure. Bathing and changing-room photography is inappropriate, and MyNara has no image licence for the site.
