Yumeichi Chaya makes a practical meal stop on an Ishibutai day rather than an unrelated restaurant detour. The second-floor dining room serves dishes centred on Asuka-grown rice and vegetables, while the first-floor Yumeichi market sells seasonal produce and local goods. The operator publishes seasonal menu examples but not live prices online; distinguish those examples from dishes guaranteed on today's menu.
A meal beside the stone chamber
The restaurant is immediately west of Ishibutai Kofun. Upstairs, large windows and a terrace look toward the park; downstairs, the market offers farm produce, processed foods and local craft goods. Plan a museum or tomb visit and lunch together, while allowing for queues during busy sightseeing days.
Know what to order
The operator's menu lists a seasonal ancient-rice set meal with village vegetables and tofu, a black-rice chicken curry, and winter-only Asuka nabe made with milk, chicken broth and vegetables. A yam-and-vegetable hotpot is another winter example. The menu image is headed 'from 1 April 2025'; it is the latest dated menu surfaced in this review, so treat dishes and seasonal periods as examples and confirm what is served now, particularly near changeovers.
Check dietary needs rather than assuming
The presence of vegetables does not make every dish vegetarian or vegan: the operator explicitly lists chicken in the curry and chicken or dairy in its hotpots. Ask staff about stock, allergens and substitutions before ordering. Nara Prefecture says menu photos can help visitors who cannot read Japanese, but language support and ingredients still need confirmation on site.
Hours and prices are different questions
The operator gives 11:00–16:00 restaurant hours on weekdays and until 17:00 on weekends and holidays; the shop opens an hour earlier. It does not publish a current text price list for the featured meals. Two travel publishers list the ancient-rice set at about ¥1,500 and the curry at about ¥1,100, but these are third-party guide prices rather than a verified current menu. Call the restaurant if budget or reservations are decisive.
