Michi-no-Eki Katsuragi is a practical food stop rather than a single restaurant. Its operator brings a farm market, multiple food counters, visitor information and a café under one roof near the Katsuragi interchange. A traveller can compare local produce, choose a casual meal and ask about nearby sights before heading toward Taima or Gose. It is designed for drivers, but the community bus also stops here. Menus and tenants change, so use the current operator floor and food pages instead of assuming a particular dish will always be available.
Start with the produce market
The operator presents seasonal agricultural goods and local products as the central shopping offer. Its October 2026 update describes changing autumn fruit and vegetables rather than a fixed inventory. The city also describes regional produce, prepared foods, sweets, dairy and Nara products. Ask staff about the producer and ingredients of a specific item; a market stall label is more reliable than treating every product as made in Katsuragi.
Choose among counters, not one universal menu
The operator's food page currently lists six counters, including a set-meal shop, Teraguchi Farm, HAKUHO dining, a fish-cake/neriten counter, Forest Cafe and a griddle shop. It gives examples from udon and curry to burgers, chanko and desserts. The page itself warns that its food price examples date from September 2023. MyNara therefore does not republish those prices or promise every pictured dish; check each counter's current menu and dietary information on arrival.
Keep opening hours by service
The main site lists the produce market and Forest Cafe at 9:00–18:00, restaurant service 11:00–18:00 with last orders at 17:30, and a seasonal extension to 19:00 in summer. Individual counters can begin at different times and their operations can change. The operator's March 2026 notice describes summer hours; check the day's announcement and do not assume the full food court serves breakfast just because one counter opens early.
Use the public-transport alternative
The operator lists the Katsuragi community bus stop directly at the station, served by the loop route and C/D branches. It estimates about twenty-eight minutes on foot from Kintetsu Iwaki, thirty-two from Kintetsu Shinjo and thirty-four from Shakudo. The road entrance is near Katsuragi IC but its driving directions warn that a wrong turn can send drivers onto the expressway. Use the exact 1257 Ota address and current route map rather than a generic 'Katsuragi' search result.
Add a short practical stop
The operator says it joined the city's share-cycle programme in August 2026 and has restarted EV charging after works. Those are useful possibilities, but availability, accounts and tariffs require a live check with the provider. A tourism-information counter and terrace seating make this a flexible pause. Pets are shown on the terrace rather than promised inside dining rooms; ask about current seating and accessibility needs.
