Nara Royal Hotel is a red-brick full-service hotel near the Heijō Palace site and around ten minutes on foot from Kintetsu Shin-Omiya. It suits visitors who want a room outside the crowded park corridor, a natural-spring bath and restaurants under one roof. The practical choice is between room types and plans: doubles, twins and larger family rooms differ, some rooms allow smoking, breakfast may be included or extra, and the rate depends on date. Check the operator's live plan before booking, particularly if spa access, a meal or parking matters to you.
Choose the room, not just the hotel
The operator lists rooms on the third and fourth floors, from compact doubles and twins to triple and four-to-six-person categories. Standard doubles begin around 14 m², while larger family options have different bathroom and bedding layouts. Some categories have both smoking and nonsmoking inventory; the standard double is listed nonsmoking. The room list contains an inconsistent occupancy description for one family room, so confirm the exact capacity and bed arrangement in the dated booking plan rather than assuming the category name is enough.
Use the spa as a planned part of the stay
The basement La Royal Spa has natural-spring public baths and saunas; the hotel says guests can re-enter during a stay, with use explained at check-in. Day visitors are also accepted. The operator posts a day-bath window of 13:00–23:00, final admission 22:00, and a current adult day rate of ¥1,080. Towel rental and bedrock-bath services carry their own charges. The hotel publishes occasional bath swaps between male and female sides, so check the schedule if a particular sauna matters. Its posted bath rules exclude tattoos, including temporary tattoos; contact the spa before booking if this affects your group.
Breakfast and dinner have different conditions
The Manyō breakfast buffet lists tea porridge, Nara pickles and nyūmen among its local foods, with a posted 06:30–10:00 service and ¥2,500 adult price when bought separately. The hotel also lists Chinese Sazanka, Japanese Takenoya and the Sentaki lounge. Takenoya currently requires at least five diners and booking seven days ahead, so an individual guest should not count on a walk-in Japanese dinner. Restaurant hours, autumn menus and package inclusions can change; choose a plan or make a restaurant booking separately.
Make transport and parking decisions early
The hotel's access page places it about ten minutes on foot from Kintetsu Shin-Omiya, seven minutes from the Nara City Hall-mae bus stop or ten minutes from the Nara Convention Center airport-bus stop. It does not run a shuttle, according to its updated 2026 FAQ. Regular passenger-car parking is ¥500 per stay, with in-and-out access through midnight on checkout day. The outdoor lot has about 230 spaces and a 2.5 m height limit; ordinary-car spaces cannot be reserved, and there is no partner lot if full. A hotel notice describes a free-parking benefit for some bookings made through its own reservation route; check the live offer and its terms rather than assuming every direct booking qualifies.
Check mobility and family needs before paying
The hotel offers a limited number of loan wheelchairs and a designated parking place by the entrance, but its FAQ says it has no specially adapted guest rooms. Children of primary-school age or younger can share an existing bed without a room charge, but no extra towel or amenities are provided and meals can still cost extra. The FAQ lists 15:00 check-in, 11:00 checkout, same-day luggage storage and no room service. Anyone needing an accessible bathroom, specific bedding or allergy handling should confirm the chosen room and restaurant directly.
