Cherry's Spoon occupies a former kimono shop on Nishi-terabayashicho, on the Naramachi side of central Nara. From the street, the draw is not only the coffee: the Nara Prefecture travel directory describes a traditional garden, tatami seating and cushions made with vintage kimono fabric. Recent visitor notes describe coffee and cakes, while the venue listing presents simple cafe food with an Italian influence. It is a useful stop after walking the old merchant quarter, but published hours and payment information differ across listings. Check the operator-linked Instagram account or call before setting out, and carry cash as a fallback.
A former kimono shop with a garden-side room
Visit Nara describes the cafe as being in an old kimono store. Low tables on tatami and cushions covered in vintage kimono fabrics connect the room's present use with the building's textile past; a traditional garden is another part of the visit. The setting is more intimate than a street-facing counter cafe. MyNara has not inspected the building or confirmed its construction date, so this guide does not assign an age or specific merchant history to the property.
Coffee, cake and light cafe food
The prefectural directory highlights espresso coffee and simple food with an Italian twist, and tags the venue for lunch and an English menu. A visitor report from September 2026 mentions lemon-yogurt cake and a cafe latte; that is one reported order, not a promise that the item remains available. Menus and daily stock can change, so use the current menu or ask staff about ingredients, portion sizes and allergens before ordering.
A slower pause in Naramachi
The combination of a tatami room and garden view makes this a natural place to slow down after exploring Naramachi's narrow lanes and historic merchant houses. Nara Prefecture lists Cherry's Spoon in its 2021 Kirei na Nara landscape award, in the public-vote 'Minna de ii ne!' category. That recognition concerns the business's sign/design as part of the townscape; it is not a restaurant review or a guarantee about today's menu. The prefectural directory lists 35 seats, while the current Tabelog venue record lists 25. Seating arrangements are therefore not stable across sources; call ahead if you are visiting as a group or need a particular type of seat. Rabbit motifs and latte art are noted by venue and visitor listings, but specific designs are not guaranteed.
Verify the schedule and payment method
Visit Nara lists 11:30–19:00 with last orders at 18:30 and Thursday closure. Tabelog's venue record instead lists 11:00–18:30 and also names Thursday as the regular day off. Visit Nara says cash only, while Tabelog says cards are not accepted but electronic money is; because payment information conflicts, bring cash and check the operator's latest notice. Reservations may be possible by phone according to Tabelog, but availability and group arrangements should be confirmed directly.
Walk from the station through the old town
Visit Nara estimates a nine-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. The address is 26 Nishi-terabayashicho, close to the southern end of the Mochiidono shopping area and the approach to Naramachi. Expect a walk through busy shopping streets and narrower lanes rather than a direct station-front entrance. No dedicated parking is listed in the venue record; use public transport or a paid car park and check its location and hours independently.
A few practical points before ordering
The official directory identifies an English menu, which can make the food choice easier for international visitors; it does not confirm spoken English service. Ask about allergens and dietary restrictions directly, since menu translations do not establish kitchen cross-contact practices. The cafe is in a historic-style building with tatami seating; step-free access, chair seating on request and accessible toilet provision were not verified. Contact the cafe before visiting if any of these affect your plans.
