The former L'Auberge de Plaisance Sakurai at this NAFIC practical-training site reopened as Auberge de Senvie on 24 April 2025, according to Nara Prefecture. The present operator runs nine terrace-equipped rooms and a course restaurant centred on regional ingredients. The name change matters: the old Visit Nara entry is useful for identifying the building, but its former brand, operator and prices should not guide a current booking.
Book the present property, not the old listing
Nara Prefecture identifies Senvie as the reopened auberge in the NAFIC training complex at 2217 Taie. The operator lists two executive suites, six twins and one universal twin. All have terraces, but the layouts differ: the suites are about 87 square metres, ordinary twins about 30 and the universal twin about 35. Confirm room-specific bathroom and mobility details directly; the word 'universal' alone is not a verified promise that every path suits every wheelchair.
Make the meal the point of the trip
The restaurant uses French methods with Nara produce and also offers local sake, beer and gin alongside wine. Its current menu lists lunch courses at ¥5,500 (weekday only), ¥7,700 and ¥11,000, plus dinner courses at ¥16,500 and ¥25,300. Lunch runs 12:00–15:00, last order 13:30; dinner 18:00–22:00, last order 20:00. Both are fully reservation-only, ordinarily closed Monday and Tuesday except certain holidays or eves. Breakfast is for staying guests only. Tell the restaurant about allergies in advance.
Read the lodging terms as a package
The operator states 15:00 check-in, 11:00 check-out and luggage holding before or after the stay. Nara Prefecture's 2025 reopening announcement gave a dinner-and-breakfast package example and restaurant prices, but those are dated launch figures, not a price guarantee in October 2026. Ask whether the room quote includes dinner, breakfast, drinks and any transport. The restaurant and rooms are one auberge, not independent venues for coverage counting.
Plan the hillside arrival
The operator gives roughly four kilometres/ten minutes by car from Sakurai Station and five kilometres/fifteen minutes from Kashiharajingū-mae, with twelve parking spaces. Use 2217 Taie and the approach signs; the final approach rises uphill and car navigation may not find the new name. The operator publishes map code 36 566 332*68 and suggests using the Nara Prefecture timber cooperative or Asuka Museum as a navigation landmark if needed. A station shuttle is not confirmed. Reserve a return taxi if the meal ends late.
