Cafe Fluke sits in Higashimuki Shopping Arcade, a short walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. The entrance is narrow. The prefectural directory describes low tables and lounge seating upstairs, while a newer restaurant listing assigns dining to the first floor and goods to the second; check the current arrangement if it matters to you. It can work as a sit-down pause between the station area and Nara Park, especially if you want a full lunch or dessert rather than a quick takeaway. The menu is described as a mix of filling plates and rice bowls, with Japanese flavours appearing in cakes and parfaits. Opening hours shown by listings do not agree, so check the cafe's Instagram or call before planning around a specific meal time.
Look for the narrow entrance in the arcade
The cafe is at 10 Higashimuki-nakamachi, within the covered Higashimuki Shopping Arcade. The prefectural directory places it about two minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station; local listings give estimates of roughly one to three minutes, depending on the station exit and walking route. The small frontage is easy to pass while looking at the larger shop signs, so use the street number and map pin rather than expecting a broad restaurant facade.
What the listings say about the food
Visit Nara describes lunch plates and rice bowls featuring local produce, plus cakes and parfaits with Japanese flavours such as black sesame, chestnut, persimmon and matcha. A 2026 Tabelog diner entry also records a morning meal, but that is one visit snapshot, not a promise that a particular dish or service is available every day. Treat the published dishes as examples: menus, ingredients and seasonal sweets may change. Check Cafe Fluke's Instagram or ask the staff about the current menu and allergens.
The room layout needs checking
Visit Nara describes low tables and lounge chairs upstairs. A Hot Pepper listing updated in March 2026 instead describes dining on the first floor and a goods shop on the second; Tabelog's seating information also does not establish that an upstairs lounge is available to diners. The listings give different capacities (22 and 24 seats). The floor plan and seating may have changed, so do not rely on a particular floor, quiet atmosphere or step-free route; call ahead if stairs, mobility or a group table matter.
Check hours before you set out
The Nara Prefecture directory lists weekend and holiday morning service from 09:00, lunch 11:00–15:00, then cafe and dinner service until 20:00 with a 19:00 last order. Hot Pepper, updated 25 March 2026, shows Tuesday–Friday 08:00–18:00 and weekends/holidays 09:00–18:00, with food and drink orders ending at 17:00. Tabelog's listing shows a different closing time of 17:00. The listings agree that Monday is normally closed; Hot Pepper says a public-holiday Monday may open with the following Tuesday closed. Since the daily schedules conflict, check Cafe Fluke's Instagram or call 0742-23-8981 on the day.
Budget, payment and booking
Hot Pepper gives an indicative spend of ¥1,000–¥2,000 per person. Hot Pepper and Tabelog both list no credit cards or electronic-money payments and show PayPay and WeChat Pay as QR options; these are directory details, not a direct confirmation from the cafe. Hot Pepper shows online reservation as unavailable, while Tabelog provides a phone-reservation option. Call 0742-23-8981 to confirm payment, group seating and any booking before you go. No current English-language service, allergy procedure or step-free access was confirmed.

The prize-draw goal is in front of Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Sanjo on Sanjo-dori; it is not one of the Higashimuki shop venues. Check organizer informationNyarāmachi Cat Festival
The organizer describes this as an annual June art event spread across participating shops in Naramachi, with cat-themed products, artwork, experiences and activities. The 22nd edition in 2026 ran for about a month with a stamp rally, and the official participant list enumerated 55 shops, including Cafe Fluke, Cafe Maru, Shonzui and Hotel Asyl Nara. Participation and offers can change by year, so check the current shop list before visiting; the list does not specify Hotel Asyl's individual offer. Each participant sets its own opening conditions; the festival is not a single-venue exhibition, and it is not an event for approaching or feeding free-roaming cats.
