Kuzu no Mori reuses the former Kuzu Elementary School and kindergarten site as a community place in Yoshino's Kuzu district. The local residents' association operates a small weekend campsite and rents indoor rooms and outdoor grounds for events, workshops and gatherings. It is not a walk-in public park: ordinary access is tied to a confirmed campsite reservation, a room or grounds booking, or a specifically announced event. The separately listed Inuzuka burial feature lies within the former school grounds; its access conditions are not the same as the campsite booking and should be confirmed separately.
A former school site with community uses
Yoshino Town lists Kuzu no Mori Kanade Hall as the base of the Kuzu District Residents' Association at 49-1 Kubogakiuchi. The operator describes Komorebi Hall as a former gymnasium and Kanade Hall as a former kindergarten, now available for suitable group uses. The site therefore has an active local purpose; do not treat its buildings, field or neighboring memorial as an always-open attraction.
Book the five-site weekend campground in advance
The operator's current reservation page describes five unpartitioned tent sites, offered Saturday to Sunday by online reservation only. Check-in is 13:00–15:00 and checkout 08:00–10:30. Each site costs ¥4,000 plus ¥500 per person; children younger than elementary-school age are free, and each site allows up to six people with one tent and one tarp. Vehicles cannot be driven onto the tent area. Availability is shown on the live booking calendar and can change; a listing does not guarantee a space.
Know what the campsite includes
The booking page lists a sink, toilet, shower and AC power. The operator's rules specify use of the multipurpose toilet beside Komorebi Hall and a shower time chosen at check-in. There is no rubbish collection, so take all waste away. Use a fire pit and fireproof sheet rather than lighting a fire directly on the ground; fireworks, smoking, amplified sound and generators are prohibited. Quiet hours start at 22:00, and vehicles and motorcycles should not be used between 22:00 and 06:30. Pets are allowed under the operator's cleanup rules.
Room and event rentals are separate services
The operator also accepts inquiries for Komorebi Hall, Kanade Hall rooms and the outdoor grounds. Its published starting prices differ by room, commercial purpose and facility, and are not campsite fees or public admission prices. Ask the operator about the current use plan, availability, equipment, accessibility and any event-specific visitor arrangements before travelling.
Use the named local bus stop and reserve correctly
Yoshino Town's demand-bus map names a Kuzu no Mori stop. The Town distinguishes a fixed-route service, which runs on weekday mornings, from its reservation-based Smile Bus, which runs on weekends and holidays as well as weekdays. Visitors without Yoshino Town residency must reserve the demand bus by telephone from three days before travel (excluding weekends and holidays); the listed fare is ¥500 per adult ride and ¥250 per child ride. Call 0746-32-0550 on weekdays, 08:30–17:00, and confirm the stop, available ride and return connection. The map point is an approximate campus locator, not a surveyed gate or step-free route.
Do not assume the memorial is part of your booking
Nara Prefecture places the relocated Inuzuka burial feature within the former school grounds, but its heritage page tells visitors to check opening conditions separately. A campsite booking, a room rental or a facility event does not automatically grant access to the memorial or to buildings and grounds outside the booked area. Contact the operator before visiting Inuzuka, follow on-site directions and do not enter closed or occupied areas.
