Nara Washington Hotel Plaza stands on Sanjo-dori, the street that connects JR Nara's east side with the older centre and the approach toward Nara Park. This position makes it practical for a short stay when you want railway access, restaurants and a walk toward the park from one base. The operator lists single, twin and double rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi and wired internet, plus a Japanese restaurant serving regional dishes. The value of this listing is practical detail: room size, breakfast hours, parking terms and Sunday pedestrianisation can affect an actual arrival more than a generic claim of being 'near Nara'. It is a business hotel with a dining room, not a ryokan or a natural hot-spring inn.
Choose a room size that suits your party
The official room page lists singles of 13.5–15 square metres with a 140-centimetre bed, a 16.5-square-metre twin with two 100-centimetre beds, an 18.2-square-metre twin with two 110-centimetre beds, and a 15-square-metre double with a 140-centimetre bed. Wi-Fi and wired internet are free throughout the rooms. The room page describes the hotel as functional rather than resort-style. Room availability and nightly rates depend on the date and booking plan. Children of elementary-school age and younger may share existing beds free within the number of beds booked; breakfast for a child is separate and should be requested at reception.
Start with a breakfast that includes local flavours
The hotel lists a set-style Japanese or western breakfast at its first-floor Ginza restaurant, served 6:30–10:00 with final entry at 9:30. The displayed charge checked 19 October 2026 is ¥1,500 for an adult and ¥750 for a child. The Japanese option includes examples such as simmered Yamato pork and small potatoes, chopped Nara pickles and miso soup with Miwa somen; daily contents may vary. Breakfast is not automatically part of every room plan, so check the reservation details before assuming it is included.
Use the restaurant as a separate dining option
The first-floor Ginza restaurant serves Japanese cuisine and shabu-shabu, with seasonal fish, creative dishes and Yamato beef. The operator lists lunch from 11:30 to 14:00 (last order 13:30) and dinner 17:30–21:30 (last order 21:00), with 90 seats. Its current page displays seasonal and group menus, some of which are date-specific or reservation-only. Confirm today's menu, price, dietary accommodation and booking with the restaurant; the published course examples are not a standing promise for every date.
Compare the hotel lot and nearby lot before driving
The operator's access page lists a 20-space Times lot at the hotel, open 24 hours and without a height limit. Overnight guests can use the 14:00–10:00 period for ¥1,400; outside that period the listed charge is ¥600 per hour. Restaurant customers spending ¥2,000 receive up to one hour, and those spending ¥4,000 receive up to two hours. A separate nearby Just-in-Park is listed with different capacity, tariff and conditions. Spaces are not described as reservable. On Sundays and public holidays, Sanjo-dori by the entrance is pedestrian-only from 11:00 to 19:00, so drivers should follow the hotel's approach instructions from the north.
Plan station walks and park time realistically
The hotel gives about five minutes on foot from JR Nara's east exit, following Sanjo-dori for roughly 400 metres, and about ten minutes from Kintetsu Nara. The operator's route guide includes step-by-step directions from both stations. It also estimates Nara Park at about 15 minutes on foot and Nara National Museum at about 24 minutes; actual walking time depends on the entrance, pace and crowding. Check current train and bus service for onward trips rather than treating the hotel as a transit terminal.
