Hiyori's Nara Main Store specializes in oil-blotting paper, a small everyday object with a connection to Japan's gold-leaf craft. The company says it uses natural washi without chemical treatment and employs a repeated beating process inspired by gold-leaf paper preparation; the product carries a certification mark from Ishikawa Prefecture's foil-industry association. This is a product story rather than a workshop: the main store sells blotting papers and small accessories, and no visitor production experience is listed. Its location on Sanjo Street makes it easy to visit between the Kintetsu station, covered shopping streets and the approach toward Nara Park. The operator also runs a separate shop inside JR Nara Station, so make sure you select the Hashimoto-cho main store if looking for the larger Nara shop.
Understand the paper behind the product
Hiyori describes oil-blotting paper as a washi product whose open, loosened fibres absorb facial oil. Its explanation traces the material to special paper used in the gold-leaf beating process, where sheets are repeatedly struck between metal foil. Hiyori says its paper uses 100% natural washi without chemical treatment and is worked through more than ten stages; its gold-beating-method certification is issued under standards set by Ishikawa Prefecture's foil-industry association. This manufacturing account comes from the operator and does not mean the paper itself is produced in Nara.
Compare the store's paper and small accessories
The operator presents oil-blotting papers in several product categories along with small accessories. Product formats, pack sizes, designs and prices vary; check the live product list or ask staff rather than relying on photographs. The company says the Nara main store is spacious and displays items in a Japanese style. No paper-making demonstration or hands-on activity is advertised on the reviewed store page, so treat it as a specialty retail visit rather than a craft class.
Use the main store's current details
Hiyori's current English store page lists 28 Hashimoto-cho, Nara City, telephone 0742-20-0077 and hours 10:00–19:00. It does not publish a weekly closing day on the page reviewed. The separate JR Nara shop is inside Viela Nara 2F at JR Nara Station and has different hours. Confirm holiday service and stock directly if you have a particular product in mind. A cash/card policy was not clearly listed on the reviewed main-store page.
Make it a short stop on a central Nara walk
The operator places the shop on Sanjo Street, close to Kintetsu Nara Station and several visitor routes. Its exact entrance is at 28 Hashimoto-cho. Use the street address rather than confusing it with the JR branch or the company's office in Sanjo Hinoki-cho. Sanjo Street is a busy pedestrian shopping corridor; keep the entrance clear and ask before photographing staff or customers.
