Udaji Ouda Road Station
Use Ouda's roadside market and information stop as a practical base for the historic town and local food.

Udaji Ouda sits where national routes 166 and 370 meet, close to the protected Matsuyama streets. Nara Prefecture lists a produce market, local-goods shop, light meals, restaurant, rest space and a free footbath; it also gives the site as the road and bus gateway for the area. These are different services under one name, so the posted overall opening window does not guarantee every counter, menu or the footbath is operating throughout it.
Start here, then leave the main road
The prefecture describes the building as evoking an old post town. Its value to a visitor arriving by bus or car is orientation: collect current local information and decide whether to walk into Matsuyama, eat, or head toward a more distant Ouda site. The preserved town itself is a separate 17-hectare district; the road station is a useful threshold, not a substitute for exploring it.
Shop the region, not an invented fixed inventory
Official prefectural information lists local specialities, a vegetable sales area and food service. The site operator posts changing menu announcements, including 2026 additions. Availability, price and origin of an individual item depend on the date and vendor. This guide therefore does not promise a particular dish or product. Check the shop counter or current operator notice for today's selection.
Treat the footbath as a service with interruptions
Nara Prefecture describes a free footbath. The operator posted a July 2026 notice closing it on 16 July for pipe cleaning and inspection, evidence that it can be unavailable despite the station itself remaining open. That dated notice is not a continuing closure. Confirm present footbath hours, weather and maintenance on the operator site or by telephone if it matters to your itinerary.
Keep the seasonal hours distinct from the restaurant
The prefecture's February 2026 listing gives 8:00–19:00 from 16 March to 15 November and 8:00–18:00 from 16 November to 15 March, with no scheduled closing day for the station. It does not break out hours for the restaurant, direct-sales stall, cycle counter or footbath. A meal or rental late in the day needs its own confirmation. The café Hanare across the road is a separate Kubo Honke business with its own 11:30–16:00 window.
Check transport before a longer excursion
The prefecture estimates around twenty minutes by bus from Kintetsu Haibara. Nara Kotsu changed the Ouda line timetable in May 2026, so search both outward and return departures for the travel date. Drivers have a listed 33 ordinary spaces, four large-vehicle spaces, one accessible bay and nine motorcycle bays, but capacity and temporary management may vary. Uda City also lists a level approach, accessible parking and a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
