Kasuga Hotel sits at the edge of Nara Park, where the city station, Kofukuji and the park paths meet. That position changes the shape of a visit: guests can begin a temple-and-park walk on foot, then return to a garden bath without crossing back through the station district. The ryokan combines Western and Japanese-Western rooms with tatami rooms and some rooms with private open-air baths. Its location is the strongest reason to compare it with a station-front business hotel; room, meal and bathing details depend on the selected plan, so the booking page should be checked for the exact stay.
Choose among room styles before comparing rates
The operator lists 30 rooms across eight types, including standard twins, Japanese-Western rooms, tatami rooms and several rooms with private open-air baths. The room page shows multiple categories, but the exact bed arrangement, bath type and capacity differ. Visit Nara notes that the largest rooms can sleep up to six; do not assume that a standard twin or a specific date has that capacity. Compare the selected room's official description with the booking plan, including bedding for children and the cancellation terms.
Use the public garden bath as a guest amenity
The hotel describes an indoor bath and two garden open-air baths, one stone and one rock style. Its current bath page lists use from 16:00–23:00 and 06:00–09:00, with the men's and women's assignment changing with the guest mix and a night-to-morning changeover. It is a shared facility for guests; public day bathing is not offered on the cited page. Some room types have private baths, but check the room description instead of assuming all rooms do. Follow posted bathing etiquette and ask the hotel directly about any access or tattoo questions.
Make the most of the station-and-temple location
Kasuga Hotel says Kintetsu Nara Station is a two-minute walk away and sits beside Nara Park and Kofukuji. That makes it a useful base for seeing the park early or returning between visits. JR Nara Station is farther away, so allow for a local bus or taxi if carrying luggage. The hotel gives route estimates for Kyoto, Osaka and the airports, but train and airport-bus schedules change; check the transport operator's current timetable for the day you travel.
Know the arrival and parking limits
The operator lists check-in from 15:00, with 19:00 as the latest arrival, and checkout by 10:00. A booked plan may set a more specific check-in time; contact the hotel if delayed. The property lists about 15 free parking spaces, allocated in arrival order. It asks overnight guests to notify the hotel in advance if coming by car, but does not promise a reserved space. Confirm the parking arrangement before choosing to drive into the busy park edge.
Separate the hotel's restaurant from a room meal
The on-site Wafu Restaurant Kasuga currently lists lunch 11:30–14:00 and dinner 17:00–19:00. Examples include Asuka Gozen with Asuka hotpot at ¥3,300, and a seasonal kaiseki at ¥6,600; dinner seats may not operate every day because hotel guests also dine there. A 10% service charge is added, private-room use can cost extra, and seasonal kaiseki requires advance booking. Monday is normally a closing day, moving to Tuesday when Monday is a public holiday; the operator also posts date-specific exceptions. Its room price table covers 1 April 2026–31 March 2027: a standard 10-tatami Japanese room with two meals starts at ¥28,600 per adult for two guests in the lowest season band, with date, room, party size and holiday pricing changing the total. Golden Week and New Year use separate rates. Check the selected date and meal plan with the operator before booking.
