Kaidan-meguri is a short devotional passage beneath Shigisan's main hall. The temple's account connects it with the wish-granting jewel said to have been entrusted to the monk Kakuban. In darkness, visitors move slowly by touch and reach the lock said to connect them with the jewel. The experience is distinct from seeing the stage-fronted main hall or walking the wider precinct.
